About the Dharavi Redevelopment Project
The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is a major urban renewal initiative intended to make Dharavi a more organised, inclusive and infrastructure-ready neighbourhood. Dharavi has long been home to dense residential communities, small businesses, workshops and local industries in the middle of Mumbai.
The project is implemented by DRP/SRA, with execution by Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited. It aims to improve housing conditions, upgrade civic infrastructure and support the area’s residential and economic activity. The wider framework covers rehabilitation housing, commercial and industrial spaces, transport connectivity, water supply, sanitation, electricity, public spaces and community facilities.
A key milestone came in October 2026 when rehabilitation construction began at the 22-acre Matunga railway land site: 10 towers with 10,432 rehabilitation homes and 1,379 commercial and industrial units.
