Figures are from the developer's announcement of 12 October 2026. Last updated 16 October 2026.
Overview
Matunga is the first site where rehabilitation homes are being built under the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. Instead of rebuilding only inside Dharavi, the first package uses a 22-acre parcel of railway land in Matunga, so eligible residents can be rehoused while the wider redevelopment is planned.
The towers are being built by Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited, a special-purpose vehicle jointly held by the Government of Maharashtra and the Adani Group. Completed towers are handed over to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project / Slum Rehabilitation Authority (DRP/SRA), which decides resident eligibility and allotment.
The package includes 1,379 commercial and industrial units alongside housing, reflecting the importance of small businesses and workshops to Dharavi's economy.
